Wednesday rolls around. You’re halfway through the week. Work has been a grind, and the weekend still feels like a mile away. But for those in the know, Wednesday or Thursday nights mean one thing—bocce at the Southbridge Italian Club.
This isn’t just a game; it’s an experience. A mix of strategy, skill, and a little friendly trash talk. The smooth glide of the bocce ball, the satisfying thunk as it lands, the cheers (and groans) as points are tallied. It’s a sport that brings people together—husbands and wives, lifelong friends, and soon-to-be lifelong friends.
And in the Italian community, bocce is more than just a pastime—it’s a tradition, a link to generations past, and a celebration of life itself. From the backyards of small villages to the bustling piazzas of Italy, bocce has always been about food, laughter, competition, and camaraderie. It’s a game where young and old play side by side, where stories are shared between rolls, and where every match feels like a family gathering.
Here’s the deal:
• Four-player minimum per team (with 2-4 subs to keep things fresh).
• Games on Wednesdays or Thursdays—just when you need a midweek escape.
• Season runs May through August, giving you months of fun competition.
• Minimal cost, maximum enjoyment—a true bang for your buck.
• Open to members and non-members (with sponsorship)—so bring your crew!
And if you’re new to bocce? No worries. This game welcomes all. You’ll pick it up fast, and before long, you’ll be lining up your shots like a pro.
Want in? It all starts Tuesday March 18th at 6:30 PM at the Southbridge Italian Club (20 North Street, Southbridge). That’s when we hold our Captains and Players Meeting—your first step toward a season of laughs, competition, and unforgettable nights.
Join us. Because bocce isn’t just a game—it’s a tradition, a community, and the best way to make Wednesday or Thursday the highlight of your week.
